Local Elections – May 2022

For the County Borough election only Coychurch Lower ward will be joined with a new defined area of Brackla East (that part of Brackla bordering Simonston Road).

You may be aware that the County Borough councillor for Coychurch Lower ward will not be standing for office in May 2022 so if you are interested in standing in the County Borough election you can find out more on the BCBC website at:

https://www.bridgend.gov.uk/my-council/democracy-and-elections/have-you-thought-about-becoming-a-councillor/

For the Community Council election the Coychurch Lower ward will stand on its own.

If you are interested in standing for the Community Council you can, initially, speak with any councillor or the clerk.

The timescale for the local elections in May 2022 (when all the council seats in Wales will be contested) is:

  • A local Returning Officer will announce an election by publishing a Notice of Election at least 25 days before the next local elections on 5th May 2022.
  • You will need to complete a ‘nomination form’ which will need to be signed by 10 registered electors and submitted by 4pm on the 19th working day before the election. All of the deadlines and dates will be specified on the official Notice of Election.
